Soulmate Reflections with Karen McPhail
A monthly letter about love, manifestation, and becoming the woman who is a vibrational match for the life she desires.
The Power of Saying Yes
Today is my birthday.
Birthdays have a way of making us pause and reflect on the journey we’ve walked… and the journey still ahead.
And this year, more than ever, I’ve been thinking about the power of one simple word:
Yes.
When I look back at the moments that changed my life, almost all of them began with a yes.
Not a yes that felt completely comfortable.
Often it was a yes that felt uncertain…maybe even a little scary.
But it was a yes that opened a door.
And every time I walked through one of those doors, I found myself becoming a new version of the woman I was meant to be.
A New Yes
In September, I’ll be walking the Camino Portuguese — nearly 180 miles over 14 days from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain
And if I’m being completely honest…
I haven’t exercised consistently in years.
So this is definitely a stretch for me and may prove to be even a greater challenge that I image it will be.
When the opportunity first appeared, part of me thought, Are you sure about this?
But another part of me — the part that has learned how transformation really works — quietly said:
Say yes.
Because sometimes the most important part of a journey isn’t the destination.
It’s becoming the woman who can walk it. And in this case, I literally am that woman walking it.
Between now and September, I’ll begin training, preparing, and building the strength for that pilgrimage.
I believe that this beautiful, soulful journey will be filled with a spiritual energy and new experiences I would of course never have had without me saying yes.
In many ways, the transformation has already started.
The moment I said yes.
The Yes That Changed My Life
This isn’t the first time a simple yes will change the course of my life.
Years ago, I said yes to something that scared me just as much, if not more.
A solo trip to Paris.
At the time, I was a single mother in my mid-50s, living in a small town in Oregon and working as a school teacher.
Like many women, I quietly wondered if soulmate love was something other women experienced — but not me.
Still…something in me said yes to that trip.
Yes to adventure.
Yes to possibility.
Yes to stepping beyond the life I had always known.
And during that trip to Paris, I met the man who would become my soulmate and my now husband
Doug.
Sometimes I think about how easily that story could have been different, or never been written or lived at all.
If fear had convinced me to stay home.
If I had decided it wasn’t practical.
If I had said no.
But love has a beautiful way of meeting us when we are brave enough to meet life.
A Reflection for You
Sometimes the biggest transformations in our lives begin with a quiet yes.
Yes to growth.
Yes to healing.
Yes to change.
Yes to becoming the woman who is ready for the life she desires.
So today, on my birthday and on the very first edition of Soulmate Reflections with Karen McPhail, I want to leave you with a question.
What is the yes your life might be asking of you right now?
It may not look dramatic.
It might simply be the next step toward becoming the woman who is a vibrational match for the love and life she desires.
The bigger question might be…what is continually not saying yes, or consistently saying no, costing me?
